Job Summary:

Responsible for managing wholesale natural gas accounting activities, including preparing transportation invoices, settling bilateral physical gas transactions, and supporting accounting for power plant operations and EMAs. Duties include contributing to monthly and quarterly close processes through accurate accruals, reconciliations, and insightful financial reporting, as well as supporting inventory-related accounting for storage, call options, and park-and-loan activity. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with auditors, building strong partnerships across internal and external teams, and leveraging automation and AI-driven solutions to streamline workflows.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare and process wholesale natural gas pipeline transportation invoices and bilateral physical gas settlements, ensuring timely completion and resolution of discrepancies through detailed reconciliation and collaboration with front office teams.
  • Assist with accounting for power plant operations and Energy Management Agreements (EMAs) as they pertain to wholesale natural gas activities
  • Support monthly and quarterly close activities by booking accruals, reconciling and validating data for accuracy, and interpreting results to deliver clear, insightful reporting.
  • Assist with accounting for inventory-related transactions, including storage, call options, and park-and-loan activities
  • Work with internal and external auditors by providing documentation, addressing inquiries, and clearly explaining relevant processes as needed
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Responsible for leveraging automation and AI-driven solutions to streamline workflows and strengthen operational effectiveness.

  • Hybrid work model, 4 days in office
  • No travel required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting
  • 3+ years accounting or finance experience
  • Solid understanding of journal entries and their impact on the income statement and balance sheet
  • Proven ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with strong time management, reconciliation, and organizational skills; able to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient excel skills and strong attention to detail
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage across all levels of internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the gas wholesale and retail energy markets is a plus
  • Solid analytical and technical skill set

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Epsilon, Apollo & SAP experience is a plus

The base salary range for this position is $85,760-120,480*The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
