Description

MISO is hiring a Manager of Market Engineering. Join a team at the forefront of energy innovation, where you'll lead engineers supporting and enhancing a core Market Management System that powers critical grid operations. In this role, you'll guide the development, testing, and support of complex market software while partnering closely with operations, technology teams, and vendors. You and your team will play a key role in delivering system enhancements, mitigating risk, and ensuring reliable market outcomes. What you'll do as MISO's Manager of Market Engineering:



  • Lead and develop a team of engineers responsible for requirements definition, testing, and production support of the market management system.
  • Partner with Operations and Digital Technology teams to plan, implement, and manage risk of changes, including new market products and enhancements.
  • Oversee production support, including system monitoring, SLA performance, and escalation management for critical issues.
  • Drive resolution of high-impact system events, providing leadership during time-sensitive and high-pressure situations.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and vendors to align system roadmap, priorities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Set technical direction and manage team performance, including resource planning, budgeting, employee development, and alignment to organizational goals and standards.


Experience/Skills needed for our Manager of Market Engineering:



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or two+ years of applicable internal MISO experience with a related Engineering or Economics degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in utility operations, transmission, power systems, or energy market operations (day-ahead and/or real-time).
  • Proven ability to lead teams or projects, with 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of power systems, market operations, and systems analysis.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle principles, including requirements, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Experience leading critical issue resolution, while effectively managing shifting priorities through dynamic resource planning and allocation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts across diverse audiences.


This team participates in a 24x7x365 rotating on-call support schedule.

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $159,000 - $184,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.

Position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met. At MISO we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including 401k, vacation, sick and safe time, available on your first day of employment.
