Description

The Principal Project Manager leads the largest, most complex projects with a diverse group of stakeholders. The stakeholders typically include the client, the WESTON project team, WESTON Senior and Executive Management, subcontractors, government agencies and community organizations. The Principal Project Manager is involved with all phases of the project and participates in defining the scope of work. The Principal Project Manager assembles the project team, and manages the project scope, schedule and budget to ensure WESTON's commitments and financial goals are met. The Project Manager engages stakeholders to build trust, and aligns stakeholder expectations and relationships. The Principal Project Manager mentors other Project Managers and leaders, integrates the culture of PM development at the local level and advocates for broader PM development across WESTON.

  • Understands and leverages mechanics of stakeholder organizations.
  • Engages all stakeholders in collaborative development of project quality pledge, and validates achievement of performance objectives with stakeholders.
  • Assembles top teams, including contributors across the organization, to fulfill project goals and develop new leaders.
  • Engages conflict between stakeholders and team to ensure expectations are aligned in a collaborative work environment.
  • Manages project teams by clearly communicating expectations for project requirements, scope, schedule and budget.
  • Manages projects that are large and highly complex in scope with multiple subcontractors and internal team members.
  • Identifies project management talent on projects and encourages their development and empowerment.
  • Inspires success through a compelling vision where all team members understand how to be successful and able to identify their goals and individual contributions to a project.
  • Communicates with and aligns team beyond scope of work to maximize outcomes for all stakeholders, and create a strong desire among stakeholders to achieve the vision.
  • Enables and encourages team to come up with innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Management and communication of project changes with the client and the project team.
  • Consistently leads the team to identify significant value creation or risk reduction alternatives to out-perform planned project profitability and metrics (NIBT, profit margins, DSO, etc.) on projects with moderate to high risk.
  • Establishes high quality connections and collaborates with project support specialists to create project systems and processes for maximum results.
  • Establishes a culture and practice of PM development and advocates for PM development companywide. Leads a specialized PM Community of Practice as needed.
  • Manages quality and H&S to achieve world class safety, quality and profitability on large complex projects.
  • Identifies stakeholders during the proposal stage and engages them early and often upon award to build trusted connections.
  • Participates with the sales team in developing value-creation opportunities during bid and/or early project phase.
  • Assists with proposal efforts, including costing and profitability planning.
  • Able to understand and articulate project scope based upon RFP and/or contract.
  • Proactive identification of project issues and development of options for corrective action.
  • Timely and accurate submittal of invoices. Monitoring and reporting of the status of accounts receivable and recommends appropriate action on overdue accounts.
  • Compliance with WESTON purchasing and subcontracting requirements.
  • Consistently procures additional sole-source in many areas from stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 8 to 10 years experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams with projects that are highly complex or innovative.
  • Promotes an environment where WESTON team members establish relationships and build trust with their stakeholder counterparts.
  • Able to leverage team's relationships with stakeholders to actively listen throughout the project and determine where WESTON can provide value.
  • Proven track record of creating a positive environment where team members actively create high quality connections among each other.
  • Can proactively indentify potential issues and opportunities and engages the team to create "wins" for the client and WESTON.

Salary Range: $112,914 - $149,506 - $185,994
