Patient Registration Specialist Location: Stonington, CT Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM Setting: Onsite, office-based clinical environment Position Overview The Patient Access Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients entering the Practice. This role is essential in creating a welcoming, efficient, and supportive experience across multiple specialties, including Primary Care, Walk-Ins, Vascular Surgery, and Behavioral Health. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, empathetic, and comfortable interacting with a high volume of patients throughout the day. Key Responsibilities Patient Check-In & Front Desk Support * Complete check-in procedures for all specialties within the practice * Greet patients, verify demographics, and ensure accuracy of all required information * Maintain a professional, patient-centered environment throughout the day Information Coordination * Collect necessary documentation from referring providers * Ensure accurate submission of required information to third-party payers * Schedule follow-up appointments in accordance with system guidelines Insurance Processing * Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and co-pay amounts using online systems * Enter insurance and billing data accurately to meet compliance standards * Communicate coverage details to patients clearly and professionally Advanced Scheduling * Coordinate patient appointments across multiple specialties * Follow established scheduling protocols to optimize provider availability Systems & Compliance * Utilize EMRs and internal systems to manage patient information * Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold privacy standards * Demonstrate empathy and professionalism in all patient interactions Required Qualifications * Healthcare or general medical office experience with a strong customer service background * Ability to manage high patient volume (150-200 patients per day) * Strong communication skills and a patient, understanding demeanor * Comfortable working with individuals of all backgrounds and abilities * High attention to detail and accuracy Preferred Qualifications * Experience with EMRs; Epic experience strongly preferred * Prior experience in patient access, medical reception, or insurance verification Employee Value Proposition * Join a leading healthcare provider in the region * Work in a collaborative, supportive clinical environment * Opportunity to build foundational experience in healthcare administration * Meaningful patient-facing role with direct impact on care access Work Environment * Fully onsite, office-based role * Fast-paced front desk environment with continuous patient interaction * Requires comfort with multitasking, systems navigation, and high-volume workflows Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Stonington, CT. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
