Summary: The Executive Director of Gift Planning at UNC Health Foundation will report directly to the Vice President, Philanthropy, UNC Health Foundation. This position will work closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer/President, Vice President, Senior Leadership Team and appointed team members to implement the Foundation's gift planning strategies and opportunities.
This leader will set ambitious goals and drive growth through an innovative gift planning fundraising program, strengthened donor cultivation and stewardship, and a comprehensive marketing strategy for both internal and external audiences. They will lead the creation of a highly effective gift planning program that meets the growing needs of UNC Health and positions the organization for long-term success. As the Executive director collaborates with leadership, they willwork hand in hand with UNC Health Foundation leadership and colleagues, campus leaders, and other partners to build lasting philanthropic relationships and maximize planned giving opportunities. Collaboration will extend across nearly 70 Foundation colleagues and, when appropriate, 150 university partners to ensure broad engagement and impact. Additionally, the Executive Director will be responsiblefor providing strategic oversight on estates and bequests and will partner with the University's Life Income program on life insurance gifts in hand with fundraising and donor engagement. The Executive Director will also play a key role in cultivating and stewarding donors to significantly increase planned gift acceptance over the next five years. Responsibilities: Donor Cultivation, Solicitation, Marketing and Stewardship: In partnership with development officers, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and families, building lasting philanthropic relationships and closing planned gifts. Provide training and tools to gift officers to solicit planned gift commitments. Develop a gift planning marketing plan, implement and manage the plan. Create robust stewardship program for donors with commitments in place. Strategic Fundraising Leadership: Provide vision and direction for a comprehensive planned giving program, setting ambitious goals and strategies to significantly grow planned gift commitments over the next five years, and beyond. Gift Administration: Work with donor advisors including attorneys, investment advisors, and others to establish gifts and to administer them when realized. Partnerships: This position works closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer/President, Vice President and other members of the leadership team to ensure the proper coordination of gift activities within the Foundation, University Development Office, UNC Health and affiliate hospitals. Planning: This position serves as the Foundation's co-liaison in strategic gift planning coordination to University Development and UNC Health System.

Other information: Education Requirements: * Requires Bachelor's degree. Master's degree strongly preferred. Licensure/Certification Requirements: * None required. Professional Experience Requirements: * Requires ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in planned giving, estate planning, or related development activities, preferably within the university or healthcare sector, and seven (7) years of management experience. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: * Ability to communicate ideas and solutions in a clear, concise manner. * Identifies problem areas and skill gaps proactively and addresses them appropriately. * Excellent project management and change management skills for designing and implementing high priority department initiatives in a complex environment.
