Now Hiring: Camp Inclusion Technician - Make a Difference This Summer!

Do you enjoy supporting children's social and emotional growth in a nurturing, inclusive environment? Are you passionate about helping every child feel successful, supported, and included? If so, the YMCA of the North Shore has an exciting opportunity for you at our Summer Camps!

This is an excellent role for college students pursuing education, psychology, social work, recreation, or related fields who are looking to gain hands-on experience or obtain internship hours while making a meaningful impact.


About the Role

As a Camp Inclusion Technician, you will help ensure that every camper has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive camp environment. Working under the guidance and support of an Inclusion Specialist, you will assist in implementing individualized behavior and inclusion strategies that promote positive experiences for all children.

This role provides mentorship, professional support, and valuable real-world experience working directly with youth of diverse abilities.

On a typical day, you'll work at one of our camp locations, including:

Children's Island (Marblehead)

Camp Trickling Falls (New Hampshire - serving Haverhill & Plaistow)

Camp Cedar Mill (Ipswich)

Camp Sterling Woods (Beverly)

Camp Harbor Quest (Salem)

Camp Spindrift (Cape Ann)


Key Responsibilities

Support youth programming while implementing individualized inclusion plans

Monitor camper progress, document observations, and communicate with supervisors

Teach social-emotional skills through structured activities and positive guidance

Assist staff with accommodations and modifications to promote inclusion

Foster a positive, supportive, and engaging environment for all campers

Collaborate closely with the Inclusion Specialist for ongoing guidance and support


What You Bring to the Team

Experience working with children in educational, recreational, or childcare settings

Interest or knowledge in behavior support strategies and social-emotional learning

Flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative mindset

Strong observation and problem-solving skills

Passion for inclusion and helping all children succeed

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Completion of a child growth and development course with a minimum of three years of experience working with youth, OR an Associate's Degree in a youth service or related field with at least two years of experience working with youth.
  • Prior experience working with diverse populations and the ability to build positive, authentic relationships with individuals from various backgrounds.
  • Strong understanding of child development and social-emotional health with the ability to implement appropriate child safety plans.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately when working with children, families, and staff in a program setting.
  • This is a 14-week seasonal position running from the beginning of June through the end of August.


Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to provide and maintain all required certifications and documentation as required by the YMCA and any applicable licensing agencies.
  • Completion of all trainings, certifications, and program orientation in accordance with the YMCA of the North Shore and local licensing requirements.


Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, twist, reach, and move freely to ensure a safe environment for children.
  • Must be able to react quickly and effectively to unpredictable situations involving youth.
