Job Description

The Mercury Systems Integrated Processing Solutions (IPS) Business Unit is committed to delivering industry leading mission critical processing solutions at the edge to our customers and warfighters, and we have a great opportunity for you to join the team as an Expert Engineering Project Lead (EPL). In this role you will be relied upon to lead cross-functional integrated engineering teams to develop the technical solutions our customers depend on, ensuring that the execution is in alignment with budget and schedule commitments.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Ensure the Engineering Integrated Product Team (comprised of Mechanical, Electrical, Software/Firmware, Systems, Integration, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering disciplines) delivers technical solutions that meet challenging requirements, on time, and on budget.
  • Serve as the Engineering Leader representing the team to our customers, Program and Business Unit leadership, and internal cross-functional organizations (Chief Engineering, Engineering Functional Discipline Leadership, Operations, Program Management, Product Management, Finance, Growth).
  • Develop project plans (Integrated Master Schedule), Execute resource planning and manage engineering staffing, allocation and management of budgets / control accounts, ensure performance against budget, schedule, technical requirements, develop strategies to manage risk and opportunities to maintain performance to plan
  • Ensure appropriate Engineering rigor is deployed while implementing the Engineering development and Mercury Systems lifecycle development process(es), ensuring On Time Delivery for all Engineering owned Deliverables.
  • Support IPS Engineering resource planning processes that establish labor and outside cost demand requirements for all active projects


  • Lead and support Bid and Proposal activity, ensuring that Engineering Growth processes are executed, culminating in competitive and executable offerings to the customer.
  • Partner with Chief Engineering leadership to develop, execute, and continuously improve the Engineering management system to include metrics collection and reporting.



Required Qualifications:




  • Typically requires a BS degree in an engineering discipline & 12 years of related experience or demonstrated competence through sufficient applicable industry experience in relevant engineering leadership or management positions.
  • Relevant Project Management or Engineering Leadership experience in new hardware/software product development, including defense, aerospace, avionics, or other domains
  • Familiarity with scheduling, tracking and risk management techniques and tools
  • Familiarity with Ghantt chart planning, preferably IMS development using Microsoft Project or similar project management software experience
  • Knowledgeable in all phases of the product development life cycle from requirements through design, implementation, integration, verification, transition to production and sustainment support.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements across an organization


Preferred Qualifications:




  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, including leading Root Cause Corrective Action efforts.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including experience in direct customer communications and ability to lead professional conversations with internal leadership.
  • Experienced in decision analysis and willingness to integrate cross-functionally to drive excellent decision making.
  • Strong team building, interpersonal and personnel development skills.
  • Comfortable working among ambiguity and a changing and growing environment.
  • Proactive mindset ready to take initiative and a strong sense of outcome ownership.
  • Fluent in Microsoft applications, familiarity with Atlassian Jira and Confluence management tools
  • System and subsystem integration.

Pay Grade Range
Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position
* $138,900.00 - $250,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
* $155,600.00 - $280,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
* $163,900.00 - $295,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ
