Building on The Aerospace Corporation's reputation as a trusted, impartial advisor with integrity and dedication to mission success, the Civil Systems Group (CSG) combines deep technical expertise with market-leading innovation to help our customers solve complex systems engineering and integration challenges. CSG is organized by core customer-facing lines of business to manage and grow programs within the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), United States Geological Survey (USGS), and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), while extending our capabilities to other civilian federal government agencies fully integrated within Aerospace rules, regulations, processes, values, and behaviors.

Within CSG, the Human Exploration and Spaceflight (HESF) Division provides comprehensive support to NASA across all human spaceflight operations and program office activities. We are seeking a Systems Director (Systems Engineering) to lead the integration of HESF Division support to NASA's Space Operations Mission Directorate and Commercial Programs at the Johnson Space Center. The HESF Division comprises a team of specialized engineers who deliver technical and acquisition expertise, providing critical recommendations to NASA's human spaceflight and space technology enterprise. Our mission is to enable mission success across an extensive portfolio spanning space, ground, and user segments.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Houston, TX

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage Aerospace Space Operations support within HESF.
  • Provide technical and programmatic coordination across multiple organizations, including both customer and contract personnel.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customer leadership.
  • Establishes organization's objectives and goals and communicates them to subordinates, management, and interfacing matrix organizations; conduct organization's activities consistent with corporate policies/practices, goals, and objectives.
  • Coordinate safety policy and requirements across multiple programs.
  • Coordinate and provide recommendations to senior-level management.
  • Participate in NASA forums and serve as a local representative across NASA JSC and NASA HQ.
  • Develop periodic status reports and presentations.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for: Systems Director - Systems Engineering

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering/science or another applicable STEM area
  • At least 12+ years of progressively responsible professional experience and leadership roles
  • Experience with NASA International Space Station and Commercial Crew
  • Proven ability managing large portfolios from a financial and technical perspective
  • Excellent verbal communication skills - clear, concise, persuasive; builds consensus through speaking; polished, professional style
  • Excellent written communication skills - organize complex materials and concepts in clear and logical manner
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including team building/leadership, conflict resolution, staffing and customer relationship building.
  • Willingness to travel domestically approximately 10%
  • This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$168,200.00 - $252,400.00 Pay Basis: Annual
