MANUFACTURING AREA MANAGER

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE MANUFACTURING AREA MANAGER

  • Manage the activities of a Manufacturing area with consideration for the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Manages day-to-day operations in line with department/area plans, goals and objectives with a focus on increasing/maintaining employee engagement and morale.
  • Maintain knowledge of the existing manufacturing systems including the computer systems, steel making processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems and process control techniques.
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment, and process and maintenance technologies.
  • Work with the personnel, systems and equipment to achieve and/or maintain desired work center performance.
  • Define and communicate performance expectations for personnel and coach and counsel them in the performance of job responsibilities.
  • Manages to area's budget developed by Department Manager.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE MANUFACTURING AREA MANAGER

  • Four-year college degree preferred. High School diploma required.
  • Two or more years' experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or Specialist - Manufacturing Support.
  • Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organizational problems.
  • Knowledge of existing manufacturing systems including computer & ERP systems, titanium or other related industrial processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems (ISO/ASO preferred), process & automation control techniques, operational efficiencies and best practices.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend new equipment, and process and maintenance technologies.
  • Ability to operate a computer workstation and the appropriate software/hardware.
  • Ability to work in a production-oriented environment.
  • Ability to direct and supervise others. Ability to objectively evaluate performance.
  • Ability to train and develop others. Ability to work under frequently changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Key communication skills (with emphasis on mutual respect)
  • Problem solving skills.
