Engineer III - EHS

Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer to lead and support EHS initiatives at our manufacturing facility. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, driving continuous improvement in safety performance, and fostering a culture of safety and sustainability. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to risk management.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Identify, analyze, and control occupational hazards with limited to no direction, applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, psychology, physiology, and EHS laws.

* Advise on structural safety requirements based on failure mode analysis (fatigue, stability, stress concentration, creep).

* Design protective equipment and safety devices; redesign machines/equipment to eliminate hazards.

* Review proposed safety policies, guidelines, and standards; recommend technical changes.

* Recommend and implement revised occupational safety policies and standards.

* Drive facility culture change using human performance tools; develop/audit serious injury and fatality prevention programs.

* Lead moderately complex multi-disciplinary EHS project teams.

* Perform project management including design, cost estimating, and budget tracking.

* Maintain knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes to ensure compliance.

* Recommend process and product safety features to reduce exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.

* Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment for hazards and regulatory compliance.

* Lead installation of safety devices on machinery.

* Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases; determine root causes and preventive actions.

* Review plans and specifications for new machinery, equipment, and facilities for required safety compliance.

* Report and/or review findings from accident investigations, inspections, or environmental testing.

* Develop and deliver training; evaluate effectiveness.

* Conduct audits, write reports, present findings, and track corrective actions.

* Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Education & Training:

* High School Diploma and 8-10 years of experience; OR

* Associate Degree and 6-9 years of experience required.

* Four-year college degree required.

* CSP, CIH, or other relevant professional certifications preferred.

Experience:

* 8+ years of experience in a safety-related discipline, preferably in manufacturing.

* Demonstrated experience leading moderately complex multi-disciplinary project teams.

* Demonstrated success leading large, complex EHS projects.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with:

    • Environmental compliance

    • Delivering training to large groups

    • Respirator fit testing

  • Knowledge of:

    • Engineering science and technology applications

    • Local, state, and federal regulations

    • Production processes, quality control, and cost optimization

    • Training design, delivery, and measurement

    • Design techniques and production processes; ability to read blueprints and models
