The Marketing Support & Events team at S&C operates as the backbone of the broader marketing function, playing a crucial role in optimizing operational efficiency. Tasked with event coordination, logistical expertise, and campaign execution, the team ensures the seamless implementation of marketing initiatives. By closely collaborating with various departments, the Marketing Support & Events team contributes to the overall success of campaigns, trade shows, and events, enhancing the company's presence and impact within the industry.

The Marketing Events Internship role reports to the Event Manager as part of the Marketing and Corporate Communications team at S&C. This internship position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in planning and executing exceptional event experiences for S&C's four core event types: Hospitality Events, Executive Leadership Events, Corporate Events, and Internal Events. The role is designed for individuals eager to learn about event and meeting management, the execution of the S&C brand through events, and relationship development. Interns will develop valuable skills in delivering engaging and impactful event experiences while receiving guidance and mentorship from experienced team members. This is a fantastic chance to enhance your understanding of the events industry and contribute to creating memorable events.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support the Event Manager in end-to-end event execution, gaining hands-on experience across all phases of the event lifecycle, including planning, production, and on-site management.

  • Assist in developing event timelines, defining event aesthetics and overall look and feel, and managing budget tracking to ensure events are delivered on time and within scope.

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with Internal S&C stakeholders, external vendors, and customers, serving as a reliable point of contact and ensuring clear, professional communication throughout the event process.

  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude and genuine passion for event management, taking initiative to learn industry tools, processes, and standards that drive successful, memorable experiences.

  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends to serve as event staff supporting live events.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • Must be in good standing as a student at the bachelor's degree level at an accredited university majoring in Communications, Marketing, or a related major and returning to school after the work session.

  • Ability to commute and work onsite at S&C in Rogers Park, Chicago, IL

  • Comfortable working in a hybrid work setting.

  • Ability to work full-time beginning Summer 2026 for a minimum of 10 weeks.

  • Organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with guidance.

  • Verbal and written communication skills and ability to represent S&C professionally.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels of the organization and with customers.

  • Attention to detail and ability to complete activities with accuracy.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Basic understanding of building event timelines, event websites, and event budgets.

MAJOR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sitting: Continuously required to sit for hours at a time.

  • Lifting: Occasionally required to solo lift supplies weighing from 5 to 50 pounds and some operation of hand carts.

  • Walking: Frequently required to walk moderate distances.

  • Environment: Infrequently exposed to low/moderate/high noise levels, including machinery/vehicles/forklifts/office equipment/office traffic etc.

  • Standing: Occasionally Standing for long periods onsite during events.

  • Communication: Continuously required to talk and hear or otherwise, in person and by phone/conference calls.

  • Observation: Frequently required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.

  • Travel: Occasionally required to travel locally and work extended hours when necessary
