Position Summary:

The Front Office Manager is responsible for managing the overall performance of the front desk department, including front desk agents and supervisors, night audit, and bell staff. Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the front desk and ensures excellent guest service through adherence to performance standards. Serves as the initial point of contact for escalated guest or owner issues and other special requests. Responsible for meeting guest service goals and managing labor and expenses. Works closely with housekeeping, maintenance, and owner services departments.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:
  • Manages hiring, firing, scheduling, payroll, and daily supervision of staff in a highvolume, fastchanging environment.
  • Oversees the daytoday success of the front office, ensuring exceptional guest service.
  • Resolves guest and owner complaints professionally and empowers staff to handle issues effectively.
  • Maintains labor and departmental expenses within budget guidelines.
  • Serves as a technical expert for front office operations and collaborates closely with housekeeping and maintenance for smooth lodging operations.
  • Provides shift coverage based on business needs, including 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and night audit (11pm-7am).
  • Participates in oncall MOD rotation to support staff during evening hours.
  • Reconciles departmental accounting (reservations, owner accounts, group balances) and oversees bell staff and group porterage while supporting the Lodging Operations Manager.

Specific Job Skills:

License/Certifications - Driver's license required

Technical - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, and Outlook) required.
  • Knowledge of SMS, Inntopia, Breezeway and Onity preferred.
Physical Capabilities - Able to walk on slick and uneven surfaces. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.

Additional -

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a high degree of detail.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Strong customer service skills and sales experience is highly preferred.

Education/Related Experience:

Minimum education required - Bachelors degree in hotel management preferred. Working knowledge of accounting functions. English reading, writing, and communication are required.

Minimum time in related position - Minimum of one year experience in hotel management with at least one-year experience in a leadership role. Familiarity with ski area and resort management and experience with property management is preferred.
