Below, you'll find other important information about this position. The director is accountable and responsible for the leadership and management of the assigned services on a 24 hour basis. The director translates the objectives, plans, policies and procedures of the hospital and service department into effective actions to ensure quality patient care and manages the human and material resources of the department to provide cost effective care. Facilitates the mission of the department and WVU Medicine.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

2. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).

3. BLS certification.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Five (5) years clinical experience in Cardiac Critical Care.

2. Five (5) years nursing experience with at least two (2) years in a management or administrative position.

1.Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

1. Develop, implement, and lead the strategic vision for Cardiovascular Services, aligning clinical operations with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based best practices to drive positive patient outcomes and sustainable growth. Collaborate with the Physician Medical Director, administrative leadership, and cross-functional teams to design, execute, and monitor strategic and operational plans.

2. Directly manage the capital and operating budgets for Cardiovascular Services, including cath lab and related clinical areas. Develop cost-effective staffing and scheduling that ensure optimal resource utilization while maintaining high standards of care.

3. Lead a continuous quality improvement program focused on enhancing patient care, reducing costs, and improving operational efficiency. Establish, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to clinical outcomes, patient and staff satisfaction, and process efficiency. Engage multidisciplinary teams in root cause analysis, process redesign, and performance enhancement initiatives.

4. Recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing, competent clinical team through targeted orientation, continuing education, competency validation, and professional development programs. Conduct ongoing goal setting, performance reviews, and constructive feedback sessions.

5. Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and institutional policies. Enforce nursing and clinical standards of practice, and promote a culture of accountability, safety, and ethical care delivery.

6. Represent Cardiovascular Services in community outreach initiatives to promote cardiovascular health and strengthen community relationships. Actively participate in hospital-wide committees and special projects.
