Job Description

Position Summary
This position is an experienced accounting professional responsible for performing complex accounting functions, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role works independently on assigned areas while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support accurate and timely financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Serve as primary lead for the recording and reconciliation of capital equipment assets, annual reconciliation of project capitalization and execution of appropriate entries to the general ledger system
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities in accordance with established timelines
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP/GASB accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Maintain and improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation
  • Collaborate with operational and finance teams to resolve accounting issues
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Three to five (3-5) years of accounting experience
  • Experience in a corporate, public accounting, or higher education environment
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Experience with general ledger accounting and financial close processes
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar)
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $23.10 to $28.85 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
