FTE: 1.0, Shift: Day, Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts, Occasional evenings and weekend calls Position Summary The Genetic Counselor serves the needs of individuals and families in the community affected by or at risk for genetic disease or birth defects by providing genetic counseling and assisting them in obtaining appropriate medical care. The Genetic Counselor is also an important educational resource for the community and other healthcare providers. The Genetic Counselor obtains and interprets detailed family histories, analyzes inheritance patterns, provides personalized risk assessment, reviews available family planning and testing options, orders genetic testing as appropriate, and coordinates appropriate referrals to healthcare providers and/or community and state support services.Work situations require intense and difficult interaction with patients and families requiring a service-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and good judgment. Internal contacts include staff and management throughout the MHS. External contacts include physicians, community agencies and outside organizations. Essential Responsibilities:

Pay and Benefit Expectations We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $38.00 - $54.68 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
