Process Lab Aide

Part Time, Second Shift - Rotating Weekends / Call

Responsible for correctly ordering lab tests to be performed and accurately reporting lab results by telephone.

Job Duties:

• Receives specimens, processes specimens, results and charges appropriate tests.
• Understands pertinent LIS functions and performs procedures effectively.
• Performs data entry of patient information, ordering of tests, scheduling tests, etc. in laboratory computer and reviews the Expected List for specimens not received into the laboratory.
• Prints, sorts and distributes lab reports; answers telephone and relays messages.
• Notifies phlebotomists of orders to be collected and communicates test information and results to physicians, nurses and outside clients.
• Transports specimens to the processing area or appropriate lab department.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED
