THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Driver License Examiner Assistant, playing a vital role in enhancing highway safety with a strong focus on fraud prevention. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for various tasks at a Driver License Center, including greeting customers in a professional manner, verifying their identification, and assisting them with application forms. You will also enter data into the online driver license application system and provide customers with the necessary forms and informational brochures tailored to their needs. Additionally, you will administer standardized knowledge tests to evaluate applicants' comprehension of motor vehicle laws and traffic regulations, as well as conduct vision screenings using a telebinocular instrument. It is crucial to accurately input test results and customer applications into the online system via a PC terminal, and to have a thorough understanding of the services available, particularly the requirements for obtaining REAL ID and non-REAL ID products.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime and travel as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position requires the selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
