Lathrop GPM LLP, one of the nation's leading law firms, is currently seeking a Business Development Coordinator in either our Kansas City, MO or Minneapolis, MN office. The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) supports Lathrop GPM's focus on strategic growth and plays an integral role in supporting proactive, strategic business development. Reporting to the Director of Business Development and working closely with all Business Development Managers and Business Development Specialists, the BDC is a critical part of our business development function, providing essential support that enables our team to focus on high-impact, strategic initiatives. This role will assist the entire Business Development (BD) team in executing growth-focused strategies for practice and industry groups, and will be using and looking for more ways to use AI to speed delivery of relevant, accurate and up-to-date information.

Primary Responsibilities

Pitch & Proposal Support

  • Enter and maintain pitch data in our experience database (Pitchly), including tracking outcomes and organizing reusable content.
  • Draft initial pitch materials using AI tools and input from the BD team.
  • Organize and maintain pitch files in our document management system (iManage) to ensure easy access and reuse.

Team Coordination & Scheduling

  • Schedule internal and external meetings for the BD team, including Zoom invitations and calendar management.
  • Support BD project management by tracking project timelines and updates, taking and sharing meeting notes with commitments and deadlines, and scheduling and sharing deadline reminders.

Chambers & Legal Directory Submissions

  • Assist with the preparation of award submissions, such as Chambers USA, Global, and High Net Worth as well as various intellectual property-related rankings such as IP Stars, WTR 1000 and IAM Patent 1000, including setting up templates, pulling internal data, coordinating attorney input, and compiling materials for review.

Budget & Reporting Support

  • Supporting the budget-setting process by assisting with due diligence and research on practice group expenses, analyzing prior year spending to ensure accurate and strategic budget planning.
  • Help track practice group BD budgets by comparing actual spend to forecasts and identifying discrepancies.

Distribution List Management

  • Support annual and routine updates of external mailing lists in collaboration with attorneys and legal administrative assistants.

Data Gathering & ROI Analysis

  • Pull information from internal systems (Client Sense, Peppermint, JD Supra, etc.) to support business development pursuits and analytics and measure ROI.
  • With input from BD team, research potential speaking and sponsorship opportunities.

General Administrative Support

  • Provide additional support as needed to ensure the BD team operates efficiently and effectively.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience is required, preferably in a related field (Communications, Marketing, Business, etc.).
  • Experience: 1+ years related experience, preferably at a law firm or professional services firm.
  • Traditional and forward-thinking tech skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel; will be trained on technology used across the firm and specific to this position, so must be a quick learner in this area. Ready to use firm-approved AI channels in daily activities, and invested in finding new uses for AI to speed delivery of relevant, accurate and up-to-date information to BD team members.
  • Organized & Responsive: Able to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and respond quickly to team needs.
  • Detail-Oriented: Committed to accuracy and quality in all work, with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Clear Communicator: Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional and concise.

Current anticipated salary range for applicants as required by applicable state laws is $55,000 - $65,000 in Minneapolis. Actual salary will vary and may be above or below the range depending on experience and location. Full comprehensive benefit plan including health care, retirement plan and paid days off, including PTO, parental leave, and short/long term disability.
