Crane and Rigging Superintendent - Hydrocracking Unit Play an integral role in delivering safe, high-complexity lifting and rigging operations within a major hydrocracking unit construction program. This role sits at the center of field execution-aligning planning, supervision, safety, cost control, and productivity to ensure critical path activities are delivered without compromise. We are seeking a seasoned construction leader who understands the technical and operational demands of heavy industrial projects and can direct large trade teams with clarity, accountability, and discipline. You will be responsible for leading crane and rigging field execution across the hydrocracking unit, ensuring all lifting operations are planned, sequenced, and executed in accordance with HSE standards, quality requirements, and project schedule commitments. Purpose of the role The Crane and Rigging Superintendent directs a large group of forepeople and craft professionals within a single trade on a construction site. The role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of all crane and rigging activities, including heavy lifts, engineered lifts, and critical path equipment setting. This position provides leadership in scheduling, workface planning, workforce allocation, apprentice development, and productivity oversight while maintaining strict compliance with company policies, labor relations requirements, and site safety standards. Core Responsibilities *Lead all crane and rigging operations within the hydrocracking unit construction scope. *Plan the work and allocate manpower to maintain appropriate labor balance aligned with the construction schedule. *Oversee workface planning, sequencing, and coordination with other trades to protect schedule integrity and eliminate workfront conflicts. *Ensure all lifting activities comply with HSE requirements, lift plans, engineered lift procedures, and regulatory standards. *Direct and support forepeople in daily execution, providing clear expectations and holding teams accountable for performance. *Monitor manpower requirements, crew efficiency, and productivity metrics; adjust resources as needed. *Drive cost control initiatives while maintaining quality and schedule objectives. *Promote proper apprentice training, craft development, and trade competency progression. *Understand and apply company labor relations policies and site agreements. *Conduct regular field inspections to verify workmanship, safe work practices, and adherence to procedures. *Collaborate closely with construction management, engineering, safety, and quality teams to resolve technical and operational challenges. *Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, influencing outcomes and resolving conflict constructively. *Leverage advanced knowledge of crane and rigging systems, tools, and methodologies to troubleshoot issues and improve field processes. *Contribute to the development and refinement of systems, processes, and tools that enhance execution performance. #LI-JS4 What you'll bring to the role *Typically 12+ years of heavy industrial construction experience, with significant time in crane and rigging leadership roles. *Journey-level certification or equivalent trade qualification where required. *Demonstrated experience supervising large crane and rigging crews on complex refinery, petrochemical, or hydroprocessing units.
