Position Overview

A privately held real estate organization is seeking a Property Accounting Supervisor to oversee financial operations for a multi?asset commercial portfolio. This role combines advanced technical accounting responsibilities with supervisory oversight and process leadership. The ideal candidate is deeply familiar with commercial real estate accounting, highly proficient in Yardi, and capable of guiding accounting workflows with autonomy and professional judgment.

Core Responsibilities Accounting Leadership & Portfolio Oversight
  • Lead the full accounting cycle for a diverse group of commercial properties and related entities.
  • Review and approve monthly financial packages, ensuring completeness and accuracy across all reporting components.
  • Provide direction on general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and month?end close processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.
  • Prepare and deliver variance analyses and financial insights for senior leadership.
Lease Administration & Revenue Oversight
  • Oversee the integrity of all lease data within Yardi, ensuring proper setup, updates, and compliance with lease terms.
  • Supervise the calculation and posting of recurring charges, escalations, CPI adjustments, and other revenue items.
  • Manage tenant sales reporting and ensure percentage rent calculations are executed accurately and timely.
  • Direct annual expense recovery processes, including CAM reconciliations and classification of recoverable vs. non?recoverable costs.
Payables, Capital Projects & Cash Management
  • Provide oversight of accounts payable workflows, reviewing coding accuracy and ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
  • Monitor capital improvement and tenant improvement spending, ensuring alignment with budget and lease requirements.
  • Assist in managing cash flow forecasting, liquidity reviews, and internal movement of funds.
Tenant Accounting, Receivables & Issue Resolution
  • Act as a supervisory resource for tenant billing matters, complex ledgers, and escalated inquiries.
  • Review accounts receivable activity, monitor aging, and support collection efforts as needed.
  • Oversee exceptions-based payment handling, manual receipts, and unique tenant payment situations.
Team & Process Guidance
  • Provide direction and mentorship to junior accounting staff or cross-functional collaborators.
  • Support training related to system usage, accounting procedures, and portfolio-specific requirements.
  • Contribute to refining departmental standards, workflows, and documentation.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent credential is beneficial.
  • 5-7+ years of commercial property accounting experience, with exposure to supervisory or lead responsibilities.
  • Experience managing financials for a sizable commercial portfolio.
Technical Expertise
  • Advanced command of Yardi Voyager, including back-end workflows, lease configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of NNN lease structures, retail billing components, and percentage rent methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Excel for analysis, modeling, and supporting schedules.
Professional Skills
  • Strong analytical reasoning and the ability to identify issues proactively.
  • Clear communication skills suitable for cross-department coordination and tenant interaction.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage deadlines, and operate independently while supporting a team-oriented environment.
