Interim Treasury Consultant About the Engagement

Our client is a growing, diversified organization operating across transportation, finance, and regulated industries. The business supports a large, high-volume operational platform and is building a modern, data-driven finance function focused on strong controls, automation, and operational excellence. This interim engagement offers high visibility and immediate impact for a hands-on treasury professional.

Role Overview

The Interim Treasury Consultant will oversee end-to-end cash management and treasury operations, including bank reconciliations, variance investigation, multi-system cash matching, liquidity reporting, and internal controls. The role begins with operational treasury support and expands into consolidated cash governance, forecasting, and audit support across multiple business segments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations; investigate, resolve, and document reconciling items
  • Manage complex reconciliations across multiple operational systems, data platforms, and ERP/accounting systems
  • Resolve timing differences, duplicate entries, incorrect postings, and data quality issues to ensure accurate period reporting
  • Track and reconcile outstanding checks, deposits in transit, operational settlement items, and payment processor activity
  • Reconcile tolling systems, credit cards, and cash-based operational workflows; maintain complete supporting documentation
  • Prepare audit-ready treasury workpapers and support external audit requests
  • Maintain and enhance SOX-aligned cash controls, including segregation of duties and approval workflows
  • Coordinate with banking partners and third-party payment vendors
  • Manage sales tax payable reconciliation and accuracy
  • Produce weekly cash reports and support short-term (e.g., 13-week) cash forecasting
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong experience with high-volume, multi-system bank reconciliations and cash tracing
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
  • Solid understanding of consolidations, intercompany accounting, internal controls, and SOX principles
  • Experience leveraging AI or automation tools for reconciliation, anomaly detection, documentation, or cash analytics
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CPA-track
  • Experience with payment processors, ETL tools, or bank APIs
  • Exposure to transportation, fleet, logistics, or operationally complex industries
  • Experience with treasury risk management or fraud detection
