| Position Purpose |
The Predoctoral Research Trainee supports the Health Economics and Policy Lab at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice (
TDI) in developing national, state, and regional health policy and research. The Trainee works under the guidance of
TDI faculty and senior staff to implement various project activities, including applied econometrics, data analysis, coding, and empirical methods. |
| Description |
The Predoctoral Research Trainee will join The Dartmouth Institute's Center on Health Economics and Policy team. The Predoctoral Research Traineeship enables an individual with a bachelor's or master's degree to gain skills and experience in an academic training environment that will facilitate the continuation of their research or academic career. This position is ideal for individuals planning to pursue a PhD in economics, health policy, public policy, or computational social science.

- 5 years of experience. Can include undergraduate and/or graduate work.
- A degree in economics, social science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with basic research methods and data analysis.
- Ability to work directly with TDI faculty, staff, and other executive-level national stakeholders.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to address open-ended problems.
- Superior verbal communication, teamwork skills, and writing skills.
- Commitment to diversity and serving the needs of a diverse population.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Proficient in using Stata, R, or SAS
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with large datasets and preparing publication-quality tables and figures.
- Prior research experience as a research assistant or in a similar analytical role
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Comfort with preparing engaging presentations and public speaking.
