Job Description

Job Summary:


Support assigned division with technical and non-technical issues. Provide gage calibrations, technical support, troubleshooting, creation and maintenance of masters/standards, disciplined record keeping, resolving complex metrology repairs, and the ordering, inspection and maintenance of tooling.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Proficiency in the following tasks is required:



  • Handheld gaging repair and calibration
  • Air tooling maintenance (Western gages, Federal, air rings and mandrels)
  • New Tooling Qualification (Verify dimensions and make active on system)
  • Gage Track
  • Basic Computerized gaging maintenance (tip replacement, attached printer maintenance, etc.)
  • Computerized gaging troubleshoot/repair and calibration
  • Calibration Record Keeping (Paper copies filed, Gage Trak)
  • Labmaster (Making new masters and qualifying new tooling, all calibrations)
  • Functional Checks
  • Assembly Tooling maintenance and calibration
  • Assembly gage troubleshoot/repair and calibration
  • Mechanical Gage tooling repair (Track tip ball replacement, endshake gage magnet replacement)
  • Lapped Plate changeouts and calibration
  • Mahr box repair/calibration
  • Transducer repair/calibration
  • Microscope maintenance
  • All aspects of Jo Blocks (Cleaning, sending out for calibration, verifying quality on Labmaster)


  • Maintain a neat and organized work area, following 6S as guideline



Job Skills & Abilities:



  • Knowledge of mechanical gage prints/parts and the ability to order new gages/parts through Tool Room
  • Proficiency or ability to gain proficiency with the Wolseley ordering system
  • Ability to train others as assigned
  • Ability to communicate with Team Lead, Engineer, Manufacturing & Quality personnel as required, in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to read and understand complex written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (ex. addition, subtraction, etc.) and an understanding of the decimal system
  • Maintain necessary records; work is subject to audited inspections


Education and Experience:



  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years manufacturing experience preferred
  • Minimum of 1 full year of relevant calibrations experience



Physical Requirements:



  • Physical job requirements may include standing, walking, use of a microscope, use of hands to assemble and or carry out job functions as well as sitting, lifting, carrying, bending and stooping during the course of the job.


Vision requirements:



  • Near Vision: Minimum requirement shall be Snellen 14/18 (20/25 or better) or Jaeger type 1 or 2 at 12 inches or greater; Ortho-Rated 8 or equivalent, in at least one eye, either corrected or uncorrected.
  • Color Vision: Average or normal (4 of 6 responses on Titmus, B+L, or American Optical testing machine or a satisfactory response when checked with an Ishihara or Pseudoiscromatic plate).

Pay Range: $22 to $25 DOE
