Hourly Pay Range: $15.02 - $22.51

Job Summary: Seasonal Park Patrol workers serve as a liaison with the public to ensure public and employee safety and compliance with local laws and regulations through education and enforcement. Seasonal Park Patrol workers preserve and enhance department assets, ensure quality service and product delivery, and maximize revenue opportunities.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Oversee daily patrol duties spanning 156 County parks over 15,000 acres of land. Enforce compliance with Park regulations, audit and sell permits and dog tags, enforce parking regulations, and issue citations for non-compliance. Coordinate and assist in the patrol activities of large-scale events every year.
  • Assess service needs, such as traffic control, money handling, security observation posts, Advanced First Aid, and coordinating service delivery. Provide direct support at events.
  • Provide customer service as needed when in the field. Act as Parks department representative and liaison in community meetings, block watch, park watch events, and community special events.
  • Investigate, communicate, and follow up with violators of encroaching and illegal dumping violations. Communicate and update supervisors and other Parks employees to track all progress and end results.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possession of a valid United States Driver's License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience or education in Law Enforcement, Military Police, Security, Criminal Justice, Parks, Training, or a related field.
  • Willing and able to earn CPR, AED, and First Aid certification within one (1) month of employment.
  • Able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing and able to work irregular hours due to overtime, weekend work, or shift rotations.



NOTE: This original application is open to permanent residents of the United States. Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during incumbency. In accordance with Section 11, Rule 3 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of criteria deemed appropriate by the Director of Human Resources.
