THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT LBT OMAHA, NE.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Buyer is responsible for managing procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing, and maintaining supplier relationships to support operational needs. Prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use as a generalist or in a combination of Purchasing Disciplines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Plan materials to meet sales forecast. Includes working with MRP and re-order reports in ERP system and working to correct planning signals.
  • Work to effectively consolidate freight costs while supporting production and inventory levels.
  • Procure components for the company's products to meet production demands. Involves working across departments such as manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers as needed to obtain parts. Includes placing purchase orders and negotiating price and delivery (expedite or defer based on MRP or project team requirements). Responsive to those signals in MRP to meet production needs.
  • Good understanding of production planning and work order generation. Work with production as necessary. Prioritize material through receiving and inspection, as needed to support production build schedules.
  • Maintain item planning and purchasing information in the procurement system. Includes maintaining forecast(s), establishing safety stock levels, maintaining cost accuracy, and creating/ maintaining multiple Bills of Material. Monitoring demand driven by customer orders and production orders.
  • Reporting gathered information within production meeting environment
  • Working with demand and forecast incorporating current and accurate information to allow the company to correctly predict customer demand and provide supply chain with appropriate information to allow planning on how to meet demand.
  • Review cycle count and physical inventory data and support reconciliation, as needed. Respond accordingly with purchasing activities.


SKILL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Good negotiating skills & multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards for commodity sourcing.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in business, Supply chain, Engineering or related field.
  • 2-4 years Purchasing and Materials Planning experience in regulated production and development environments.
  • Proficiency in the supply flow of raw material and components in an ERP system.
  • Knowledge of basic procurement systems as applicable to this position.
  • Successful experience working in team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas were all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shops and other mandatory safety equipment.
  • For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



  • Sitting or standing as needed.
  • Walking primarily on a level surface for periodically throughout the day.
