Position Summary

Job Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on CNC Programmer / Manufacturing Engineering Technician to support daily CNC operations, develop and optimize programs, improve machining processes, and maintain full revision control of our CNC program library. This role acts as the technical link between Engineering and Machining-providing programming, tooling, setup, and troubleshooting support to keep production running efficiently and accurately.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:

This role reports to the Plant Manager. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician I must have ability to effectively work with people at a cross-functional level. The role requires the ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form to present information and respond to questions from different departments and plant leadership. Daily interaction occurs with production leads, operators, and Quality, Maintenance & Engineering to troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements and repairs.

Responsibilities

Job Duties:

CNC Programmer -

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for mills and lathes (OSP-P controls).

  • Own and manage the CNC Program Revision Control System, and ensure only approved program revisions reach the machines.

  • Maintain a secure, organized digital library with consistent naming conventions.

  • Determine speeds/feeds, tooling, inserts, and machining strategies for stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty materials.

  • Support operators during first-article runs and process stabilization.

  • Assist machinists with setups, program edits, and troubleshooting.

Manufacturing Technician II -

  • Independently design or modify tooling, fixtures, jigs; use AutoCAD Inventor to create drawings that meet manufacturing tolerances.

  • Implement fixture and process improvements to reduce setup time and improve repeatability.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment/tools; help troubleshoot equipment including machining centers.

  • Support process optimization: analyze production data (e.g., yield, defects, cycle time), suggest and implement improvements. Assist with root cause/corrective action for production problems.

  • Assist in qualification or calibration of equipment; ensure tools are maintained in proper condition and calibration.

  • Participate in small-scale equipment / process trials or changeovers; help with new product introductions from engineering into manufacturing.

  • Assist in maintaining documentation: work instructions, standard operating procedures, maintenance logs, cleanroom / pressure test protocols.

  • Use and update software for tracking tooling, spare parts, equipment maintenance, resource allocation.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, cleanroom protocols, safety standards.

  • Observe and report deviations in process, equipment, or quality. Assist more senior staff with root cause analyses of simple problems.

  • Adhere strictly to safety, cleanroom, and environmental / regulatory requirements.

  • Make independent decisions/referrals to resolve potential manufacturing problems when appropriate. Bring unusual circumstances to the attention of the proper authority. Escalate issues to plant leadership in a timely manner.

  • Regularly assist with continuous improvement initiatives

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical/trade certificate in mechanical engineering technology, manufacturing or similar; or equivalent experience.
  • Technical coursework and/or certificates (e.g. manufacturing technician training, or similar) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of CNC machining and/or programming experience.
  • Experience with EdgeCam or similar CAM systems.
  • Strong understanding of cutting tools, machining parameters, and material behavior.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to support machine operators.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic mechanical aptitude; familiarity with hand tools, measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
  • Solid skills in reading technical drawings
  • Good skills in AutoCAD Inventor, or similar 3D modeling software
  • Experience with tooling design/modification
  • Hands-on maintenance of tools and basic equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving capability; basic ability to analyze data (basic understanding in statistical analyses is beneficial).
  • Basic competency with PC systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for data entry and analysis.

Soft Skills:

  • Detail-oriented with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn on the job.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively under supervision are essential.
  • Ability to self-manage workload to meet daily, weekly and monthly targets.
  • Openness to future training in various topics including lean manufacturing, error proofing, auditing, etc.
  • Willing to work daily and weekend overtime as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and move in a manufacturing environment and lift inspection fixtures as needed.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Comfortable working in production environment & able to spend ~60-70% of time on the floor.
  • Comfortable working around coolant, noise, and industrial machinery.

  • Pay Range: $32.95/hr to $54.92/hr
