Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the incumbent is responsible for performing ancillary tasks for the Radiology Department and providing administrative support as required to and by the radiologists. Responsibilities include, handling outgoing and incoming communications, the overall management of medical images, requests, preparing images for release to patients, physicians and outside facilities, providing computer support related to confirming procedures, assigning procedure coding, providing phone support to the department, and distributing radiology reports as necessary. Additional duties include processing orders for radiological procedures, monitoring reading room and radiologists' activities to include regulatory and policy compliance and service standards. Responsible for ensuring images are available to the appropriate Radiologist for interpretation. Distributes and maintains control of radiology imaging results and performs related clerical duties. Assists physicians, patients, hospital staff, and others with requests for imaging results, works with physician offices to coordinate retrieval of images.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must be willing to work flexible shifts, including weekends, holidays and overtime as assigned
  • Must be highly organized and able to prioritize a demanding workload
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required
  • Basic knowledge and experience with Desktop computing (PC)
  • Bachelor Degree in related field or equivalent education and experience
  • Ability to excel in fast-paced work environment with deadlines & time constraints
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • 2 or more years' experience in healthcare

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
