Position Overview: The Senior HR Generalist provides full cycle HR support to the organization, serving as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues, providing high touch internal service and support to employees and managers. Administer all aspects of HR service delivery such as: employee relations, employment, affirmative action, benefits management, payroll and compliance. Helps to create an environment to attract, develop, retain and engage talent. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as a HR partner to leadership, providing direction, guidance and coaching in order to manage performance and employee relations issues to appropriate resolution
- Support organization in several areas of HR (employment activities, receiving/acting on employee complaints, admin employee records, ensure compliance with laws/regulations, recommend and coordinate employee training activities, admin comp/benefits/performance/other programs.)
- Responsible for a variety of HR related activities, which will have a primary focus on employee relations, employee safety, and HR policy and procedures.
- Completes personnel transactions and maintains associated records.
- Collects and analyzes internal and external information in order to compare the organization's HR practices to those prevailing in the market.
- Ensure compliance in all areas of human resources policies and procedures in accordance with local, state and federal law
- Conduct investigations, summarize findings and make recommendations to leadership
- Respond to unemployment claims and represent the organization at hearings
- Conduct scheduled internal audits and participate in external audits
- Participates in and leads local HR projects, development initiatives, and roll out of new or revised HR programs.
- Provide back-up assistance as needed for other HR functions including compensation, payroll, HRIS, and recruitment
- Support other initiatives as needed or other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- 5+ years of well-rounded HR Generalist experience
- 2+ years of proven and successful employee relations/workplace investigations experience
- Ability to listen effectively, probe and investigate complex, sensitive inquiries and conversations with discretion, composure, and compassion
- Advanced knowledge of human resource laws, regulations, principles, and best practices
- Ability to build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong conflict resolution and influencing skills
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to navigate through the gray
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and detail orientation
- Ability to work independently, follow-through on commitments and meet deadlines
- Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Knowledge and use of HRIS databases and reporting
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a Human Resources related field
- Experience working in a multi-site environment
Workplace Environment:
- Sitting 90-95% and standing 5-10%
- Working at a computer 98% of the day, utilizing the phone 40-60%
- Bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, or crouching when appropriate, on occasion
- Repetitive movements, including but not limited to typing, using a mouse, phones, etc.
- Flexibility to travel throughout our branches in greater Minnesota
- Some overnight travel may be required
- Requires onsite presence based on coordination of work with other employees and/or departments. May require travel to attend on-site meetings/events for collaboration, connection, project work, All-Employee Day, etc.
Required Work Schedule: Standard Monday through Friday business hours with a willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed. Consistent and reliable attendance is a required essential function of this role to meet the needs of the department/team and organization. Location: This role is primarily virtual; however, monthly onsite presence at our St. Paul, MN office is required, with additional days for meetings or project work as needed. Candidates located in or near the Twin Cities metro area are preferred. Compensation: This position has a starting pay range of $69,000 - $88,000 annually. In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, we are providing a good-faith estimate of the pay range for this position. This range reflects what we anticipate offering a successful candidate based on factors such as the role's responsibilities, required qualifications, and relevant experience. The actual pay may vary depending on the selected candidate's skills, experience, and other qualifications.
