What to Expect
A Mastering Specialist at Tesla's Design Studio is responsible for all aspects of the mastering process for interior and exterior materials. This includes the analysis and approval of color, material, finish, and grain as well as the validation of overall appearance and quality as it relates to material development. As a part of this fast-paced environment, you will create and oversee all material masters and collaborate closely with suppliers and key cross-functional partners, including Design Quality and Color and Material Design, to procure production feasible materials that meet both design intent and aggressive program timelines. The Mastering Specialist will support the implementation of tactical protocol including procedures, tools, and software to streamline all aspects of the material mastering system. You hold the highest standards for quality, are detail oriented, and build strong relationships with other team members while enjoying a dynamic work environment. Roles are available at multiple seniority levels i.e. Sr, Staff, etc. for those with more experience.
What You'll Do
- Drive all aspects of the color and material mastering process, including master creation, match to master and master replenishment activities
- Develop the supply base and track timelines to ensure all color and material masters are on track for production. Communicate guidelines and best practices and establish corrective action plans to ensure deliverables are met on time
- Track and communicate material masters' status to Design Quality, Color & Materials, Purchasing and Engineering Teams and escalate high risk items
- Understand the manufacturing process of all materials in both development and production to effectively work with suppliers to achieve design intent
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Design Quality, Textiles, Color/Materials, Product Development, or Design Development, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrate high color acuity with ability to critique and fluently articulate specific color and appearance variances of interior/exterior materials to external suppliers and internal teams. Successfully pass the Munsell Hue Test with a Superior score
- Experience making color quality evaluation decisions using color measurement tools and digital data paired with visual analysis
- Experiencegenerating and evaluating supplier performance metrics to drive improvement for timing and quality deliverables
- Proven abilityto support the establishment of tactical protocol and implementation of procedures and systems
- Convey pragmatic interest in/approach to facilitating creative projects while not being hands-on in any creative capacity with respect to design
- Excellent at creating and maintaining both external supplier and internal cross-functional working relationships
- Exceptional communicationand organizational skills and attention to detail are a must
- Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage both parallel-path projects and a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment with short calendars
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,PowerPoint)

Expected Compensation
$92,000 - $180,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
