Salary range:
The salary range for this position is $93,700-$121,400. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. Application Window Open date: February 12, 2026 Next review date: Sunday, Mar 15, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Jun 30, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Radiological Sciences, University of California Irvine, is seeking a qualified Assistant Professor In-Residence with strong background in MRI Research. Requirements: The applicant must have experience in the development and application of novel magnetic resonance (MR) imaging methods. Priority is given to candidates with expertise in MR Physics and MR Engineering. Experience in developing MRI techniques for the assessment of neurological diseases is preferred but not required. The candidate must demonstrate training, knowledge, and direct experience in leading and collaborating with other research teams. Preference will be given to candidates with ongoing research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and foundations, as well as existing research programs and a strong research publication track record. The In-Residence series at UCI requires excellence in research or creative achievement, as well as teaching and service. Appointees are expected to demonstrate scholarly productivity, contribute to teaching, and participate in university and public service. UC Irvine offers an excellent salary, incentive and benefits program. Faculty compensation will commensurate with experience and qualifications. The University of California Health system serves Orange County population. The department of Radiology performs over 435,000 examinations per year and has 40 full-time and part time faculty. All equipment is state of the art. The department has active multidisciplinary collaboration with other departments. A brand new, state-of-the-art imaging facility opened in 2024 with all new equipment. A new medical complex at the north end of the UC Irvine campus, opened in December 2025 bringing unparalleled expertise and the finest evidence-based care that only an academic health system can offer to the communities of coastal and south Orange County.
