Job Summary:

The Department of Immunology and Microbiology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Candidate will design, lead, and execute independent and collaborative research projects focused on bacterial pathogenesis, host-microbe interactions, and stress response mechanisms, with an emphasis on prophage biology and metabolism.

  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to the dissemination of research findings at national and international scientific meetings.

  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator to develop research directions, experimental strategies, and long-term project goals that align with the laboratory's scientific mission.

  • Ensure compliance with institutional, biosafety, and animal use regulations and promote best practices in laboratory safety and research integrity.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • PhD degree in microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or a closely related field.

  • 3-5 years of postdoctoral research experience in microbiology or related biomedical sciences.

  • 3-5 years of experience applying bioinformatics approaches to analyze high-throughput sequencing data (e.g., RNA-seq, whole-genome sequencing, metagenomics).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of research experience in prophage biology, bacteriophage-host interactions, or bacterial stress response pathways.

  • 3-5 years of proficient in molecular biology and RNA-focused techniques, including nucleic acid purification, library preparation, and data interpretation.

  • 5 years of record of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Linux-based environments, R, Python, or related tools.

  • Ability to design experiments, analyze complex biological datasets, and interpret results using bioinformatics and statistical approaches.

  • Proficiency in scientific writing and oral communication for manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

$65,000 - $69,760.00

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
