Our Space & Defense team is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to join us. The role reports to the Operations Manager and is based onsite in Blacksburg, VA.

As theSupplier Development Engineer, you will:

Work closely with Operations, Program Management, Quality, and Product Engineeringto assess supplier manufacturing capabilities and provide technical guidance to both internal teams and external partners. Your primary objective is to solve problems as they emerge in the supply chain, proactively mitigate future risks, and identify potential supplier issues that could influence sourcing decisions.

You will help transform vendors into suppliers, and suppliers into long-term partners through relationship building and technical expertise. In addition to production support, you will contribute to material estimatingand DFX (Cost, Manufacturability, etc. ) Design-to-Cost (DTC) for development programs.

Main Areas of Focus:

  • Develop and foster supplier partnerships

  • Lead and influence supplier selection

  • Read, interpret, and evaluate drawings for purchased components

  • Provide technical support to quality & supply chain organization

  • Support suppliers in problem solving, process improvements, & risk management in alignment with 100% delivery and quality initiatives

  • Travel 30-50% (domestic and international) to evaluate suppliers capabilities, provide onsite support, and build partnerships

To be considered for Supplier Development Engineer, you will need:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical field such as manufacturing, engineering, or related discipline

  • 5 years of progressive experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and/or Supply Chain

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change through influence

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Basic Understanding of GD&T

  • Hands on experience with machining, electronics,motors, or other complex manufacturing processes.

  • Willing to travel 30-50% (domestic and international) to evaluate suppliers capabilities, provide onsite support, and build partnerships

Desired Strengths:

  • Experience with root cause investigation and corrective action implementation

  • Continuous improvement mindset.

  • Project managementexperience

  • CNC machining experience/exposure

  • Leadership and negotiation skills

  • Estimating experience

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt) certification

  • Understanding of trade/export andTINA/DPAS/FAR regulations

Salary Range Transparency:

Blacksburg, VA $80,000.00-$110,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
