Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an Instrumentation Technician to work in our Instrumentation and Dosimetry department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Central Facilities with every Friday off. All work is performed onsite.

You will perform maintenance, repair, and installation of radiological instruments and components. You will report directly to the Manager of Instrumentation and Dosimetry.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and perform preventative and predictive maintenance on radiation detection instruments and components.
  • Calibrate radiation detection instrumentation using appropriate standards and radioactive sources.
  • Transport portable radiation detection instruments and limited quantities of radioactive material.
  • Provide maintenance support for programmable and digital systems.
  • Monitor work activities and inform management/ supervisor of needed changes.
  • Maintain records of work performed and communicate necessary information to management.
  • Read drawings, field sketches, apply math equations, and demonstrate proficiency in the use of hand tools and instruments of the trade.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent level education, and four (4) years of relevant experience, or a relevant Vocational Certificate in technical discipline (electronic instrumentation theory, application, troubleshooting and repair technique) or relevant degree and two years relevant experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Associate degree in technical discipline (electronic and pneumatic instrumentation theory, application, troubleshooting and repair technique), equivalent technical certification, or relevant military experience/certifications.

Job Information:

  • Salary: $45.42/hour (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to handle materials or manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms; operate a motor vehicle or job-related equipment; and climb ladders and/or work in confined spaces. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Sufficient visual acuity, speaking ability and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required.
