Position Overview
The Full-Time Recording Studio Manager/Lecturer will oversee a small team of student staff, providing essential technical support and services for the School of Music. This role encompasses audio engineering, scheduling and staffing, as well as maintaining recording spaces related to Jazz and Commercial Music.

Job Description
50% - Studio and Event Support
  • Monitor and maintain the 5th floor recording studio to ensure optimal functioning and readiness for course instruction and recording.
  • Oversee and enforce the usage policy for Murphy 570.
  • Assist Recording Class faculty during class times.
35% - Staff Management
  • Supervise and manage Murphy 570 and recording related to Jazz and Commercial Music along with a team of student staff who provide technical support.
  • Assist with staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and efficient service delivery.
  • Act as the point of contact for troubleshooting equipment issues when student staff is absent.
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of audio and video assets to students and faculty as related to Jazz and Commercial Music.
15% - Live Sound Support
  • Provide sound reinforcement and live mixing at various venues for Jazz and Commercial Music events.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in audio engineering or related field.
  2. Three (3) years of experience in mixing, digital editing, and use of recording machines and related devices.
  3. One (1) year of supervisory experience.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector, ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry aligned practices, enhances collaboration with external partners, and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Experience with operating systems, digital production programs, and web technology as evidenced in application materials.
