Position Summary:

The Catering Assistant provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times. Responsibilities include setup and cleanup of all catered functions, setup of patient coffee areas, and delivery of food and supplies to the Medical Staff lounge. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines. Interacts with physicians, members of the Board of Directors, Administration, hospital staff, guests, and patients, while providing gracious and attentive service. May perform work in other areas of the department as needed.

Education and Experience:



  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read and understand written schedules, menus, and meeting room request forms.
  • Three (3) years of experience required, preferably in catering or customer service in a full service restaurant, or equivalent combination of education and experience to provide required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Sets up catering events, to include gathering all food, tableware, and supplies needed.
  • Checks carefully against meeting room request form to determine that all necessary items are supplied.
  • Delivers to the appropriate room on time and sets event up in an attractive manner.
  • May serve the guests at an event, being sure to accommodate their personal preferences and serve them in an attentive and courteous manner.
  • Checks the room schedule and cleans up the rooms promptly when an event is complete.
  • Checks all Medical Staff Lounges daily and main lounge twice daily. Determines what food and supplies are needed. Delivers to the lounges, stocking the refrigerator and baskets. Records the amounts stocked.
  • Delivers supplies needed to the Childbirth Education supply closet and records the amounts stocked.
  • Resolves guest complaints with little or no supervision.
  • Maintains work area in a neat, organized and sanitary manner.
  • Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist with retail coverage when needed as assigned by team leaders, managers, or director which could include weekends and holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by team leaders, managers, or director.
