We are seeking a strategic and experienced executive to join our executive leadership team as our Chief Operating Officer (COO). Job Summary: The COO oversees the operational functions of all the services provided at Boys Town, to drive organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability. They will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and executive leadership team to ensure that internal systems, processes, and staffing effectively support Boys Town's mission, strategic goals, and programmatic impact. Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Partner and Leader: Develops and translates vision and strategy into operational plans with measurable outcomes. Serves as a key member of the executive leadership team on organizational priorities.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversees and drives continuous improvement initiatives for all service lines, ensuring quality, efficient, compliant, and mission-aligned processes. Develops, refines, and implements policies, procedures, and internal controls to support organizational effectiveness for those we serve.
  • Financial & Resource Stewardship: Ensures sound fiscal management, sustainability, and personnel leadership. Tracks and reports on service line operating results to ensure consistent progress towards achieving organizational goals.
  • Risk, Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensures compliance with applicable contracts, laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and agency requirements. Identifies and manages organizational risks, including operational, financial, and reputational risks.
What we are looking for:
  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in business administration, public administration, non-profit management, or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
    • Demonstrated experience managing complex operations in a non-profit, healthcare, education, social services, or mission-driven organization.
  • Skills:
    • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, financial analysis, and stewardship of funds.
    • Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and drive organizational performance.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Mission-driven with a passion for youth, families, and communities.
    • Authentic humility in order to listen, learn, build trust, and empower employees for the greater good of the organization.
    • Strategy focused in order to balance big-picture and day-to-day operational performance.
