HJF is seeking an Administrative Assistant I to perform a wide range of administrative and clerical duties. Primary duty will be to provide administrative support to the Military Relevant Bacterial Diseases Department with general tasks to include support purchasing material and supplies for the department. This is the first of three Administrative Assistant Levels. This level is distinguished by moderate judgment in resolving problems of limited complexity.

This position will be in support of the Military Relevant Bacterial Diseases Department (MRBD) within the Infectious Diseases Directorate at the Naval Medical Research Command.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine.   • Manages and/or performs operations that arrange for the supply and disposition of goods and services.
  • Review all purchase requests and forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Enter purchasing requests into proprietary purchasing software and monitor purchasing progress.
  • Assist with obtaining quotes for materials and services.
  • Maintain a positive interface with buyers and laboratory personnel to ensure timely delivery of materials and services and that accurate supply levels.
  • Maintains and updates files, databases and spreadsheets concerning purchasing.
  • Perform general administrative duties and support administrative staff.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with a diverse group of people.

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay for this position is $22.16. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
