Position Summary:

Working independently and collaboratively with others, this position plays an integral role in executing our mission, philosophy, and commitment to providing high quality products and exceptional customer service to our internal and external customers. In addition to maintaining a high level of trust, integrity and ethical standards, all employees are also expected to promote a culture of safety by following all safety procedures, protocols and guidelines while working in a manner that minimizes the risk of damage to property and injury to the employee and others.

Working with limited supervision, this position is responsible for running tests, gathering, and analyzing data and creating reports that summarize the findings of the testing.

Essential Functions:

  1. Following communicated test lab priorities, possess knowledge and ability to use test lab equipment to run 90% of tests required in area, gather, analyze data and create reports:
    1. Assists with operational tests and fault isolation on systems and equipment to ensure conformance with design specifications
    2. Assists with preparation of advanced test equipment and/or data acquisition systems in support of engineering product development efforts
    3. Selects instrumentation and oversees standard lab equipment setup to performance and reliability of lab models, prototypes and systems designs
    4. Assists in new test equipment setup if current system is incapable.
  2. Collaborate with Warn leadership and team members during team meetings, system reviews, safety meetings, and other forms of problem-solving discussions to further define and improve department strategies designed to meet and exceed quality test objectives. Participate meaningfully in Warn safety and quality activities as directed or requested.
  3. Serve as a role model demonstrating responsible and efficient time management, commitment to exceeding quality and productivity expectations, professional and respectful communication, and safe work habits.
  4. Communicate in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner with all employees, customers, vendors, visitors, and others with whom we may work or interact. Contribute to a successful work group through positive interactions, active listening, meaningful collaborations, and the constructive exchange of ideas designed to meet or exceed the organization's strategic goals.
  5. May communicate with external test labs to complete necessary job functions including completing necessary testing and sharing and analyzing data.
  6. Records test results and observations on standardized forms and prepares test summary reports. May provide design details where lacking and recommends modifications to engineering designs as necessary.
  7. May provide work leadership and technical assistance to other technicians as required. Serves as resource to others in resolution of complex problems and issues.
  8. Make suggestions for running and improving tests, gathering data and process improvements.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  1. High School diploma or GED required
  2. Working knowledge of MS Office
  3. Ability to read blueprints or schematics preferred
  4. Two or more years' experience in a high volume, manufacturing, product development or test environment is preferred

Required Qualifications:

  1. Oral and written communication skills commensurate with the job tasks and position necessary to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers while providing exceptional quality of work and outstanding customer service.
  2. Ability to write, review, comprehend, interpret, process, and evaluate effectively written work instructions, documents and procedures written in English, and some ability to read blueprints in conjunction with the performance of the essential functions and other assigned job duties.
  3. Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills including ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a calm, rational and respectful demeanor, and communication style in times of stress occasioned by work demands, tight timelines, heavy production expectations, unexpected issues, and other work-related issues or concerns that may cause a heightened level of anxiety, frustration, anger, disappointment, confusion, etc.
  4. Enthusiastic adoption and consistent demonstration of Warn Industries' Core Values.
  5. Good technical, troubleshooting, problem solving, research, organizational and analytical skills, combined with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet established deadlines. Ability to multitask is also essential while remaining flexible with changing priorities and deadlines.
  6. Well-reasoned decision making with a high attention to detail regarding organization, planning, workflow, and project prioritization to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
  7. Highly ethical, self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and/or with limited direction, as well as cooperatively in a team environment, including assisting projects, while consistently demonstrating collaborative, respectful and productive work habits.
  8. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  9. Prior experience in various machining, fabrication and /or rapid prototyping techniques preferred.
  10. Prior experience in measurement techniques, data acquisition techniques or programs desirable (LabVIEW or Flexlogger - preferred).
  11. Ability to work with limited supervision.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in the English language. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other team members. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and customer service skills.

Mathematical Skills:

Must have mathematical skills equivalent to those required under education requirement.

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

The work environment conditions described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. This position's job duties are performed both in a shop/ warehouse/lab type environment and an office environment. Team members in this position may be exposed to loud noises from operating machinery, cold/hot temperatures, chemicals, and vapors, and possibly injury associated with work involving manufactured parts, assembly, and heavy machinery. Office environment exposure may include traditional office lighting and office furniture, as well as consistent and frequent noise, interruptions, and other similar distractions.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software:

PC, fax, copy machine, office equipment, Microsoft Office, team specific software and test equipment. May minimally operate shop equipment such as fork truck, assembly presses, manual and CNC machines, basic hand tools.
