The Role
Presidio Delivery Center Network Engineer, you will work with some of the best minds in the industry to deliver IT excellence and support the answers to our clients' IT challenges. This is handled through our ITSM and monitoring platform to help identify when an issue occurs so our team can be alerted as quickly as possible and allow a seamless communication with our clients to help get the issue resolved. As we work quickly to reach a satisfactory resolution for our clients' needs, our diverse set of clients and their network topology will help bring in some new experience that can challenge you every day. New technology is always around the corner and our customers expect our team to be a leading force in helping them understand how they can have it integrated into their network for us to manage.
This position will be Monday through Friday 10:00 - 06:00 PM Eastern Time.
Travel Requirements:
This role will be remotely based in the Continental US. Associated travel will be 5%.
Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as an escalation point on support calls for products supported in our network product catalog.
- Provide ongoing Tier 2 support of production environments that include Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, Fortinet, Meraki, Aruba Products among others.
- Carry out testing of new features, and functionality as required and to help develop plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network.
- Test patches and fixes to operating software and to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the pre-production test network (if available) and then live network as implementation plans dictate.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, configuration and network problems and to open and track vendor support cases through to problem resolution on production issues.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and may be called upon to work off-hours to support customer escalations.
- Develop additional skills in other products as business needs dictate.
Required Skills and Professional Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent work experience and/or military experience
- 3-5 years' experience providing implementation and technical support of networking products in LAN, WAN, or Internet services environments
- 3+ years' experience providing implementation and technical support of Cisco Products
- Must be US Citizen with ability to pass various background checks for our clients
- Strong interpersonal skills and expert level relationship management abilities, ability to work well with many levels of client engineering and management
- Ability to function in a team environment and recognize and take on tasks with self-direction
- Ability to communicate well within the team articulating both client facing and internal operational problems before they become issues being proactive where possible
- A history of successfully managing and operating multi-vendor network environments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work calmly under pressure
- Technical experience in the installation and operation of IP Routers, Switches and Firewalls. This includes hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers
- Understanding of the protocols surrounding IP networks. These skills should generally include:
- TCP/IP fundamentals
- IP subnetting and supernetting and hierarchical routing principles
- Routing protocol operation (OSPF and BGP)
- Routing policies at BGP peering points, etc.
- Passion to continue learning and expanding your knowledge.
- We seek CCNP certification (or working towards CCNP certification presently)
Preferred Skills and Professional Experience:
- Palo Alto PCNSE
- F5 Certified Administrator
- Cisco Certifications (CCIE)
- Aruba ACCP and/or ACMP
- Advanced Unix/Linux system engineering skills
- Knowledge of one of Python/Perl/Bash/PHP
- Experience with Ansible/Puppet/REST
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience work experience and/or military experience
