Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, Publications will be responsible for developing product publication plans and engaging internal and external authors to deliver high-quality scientific publications for the Supernus CNS portfolio. Additionally, the Publications Senior Manager will be supporting and interacting with senior internal leaders, external experts and other team members to guide publication activities and ensure quality, timeliness and compliance with Industry Good Publication Practice and Supernus requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Communication platforms for Supernus products under the direction of the Sr. Director of Publications.
  • Guide and coordinate the creation, editing and submission of high-quality publications within agreed timelines and policy requirements.
  • Write first drafts of abstracts, posters and manuscripts as necessary, or guide the work of scientific writers in this task, including graphing, figure preparation, and preparation of materials or slide decks for author calls.
  • Lead publication strategy meetings, status calls and author calls.
  • Coordinate, maintain and track project timelines.
  • Ensure that all materials undergo required reviews and sign off.
  • Maintain documentation of author participation, comments and other audit records, ensure QC to source documents and archiving of published material.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy and external requirements (Standard Operating Procedures, journal policies, Good Publication Practices), and work with authors, contributors and contractors to ensure that publications are accurate, scientifically rigorous, and timely.
  • Manage publication vendors and budgets; hold vendors accountable to pre-defined time, cost, and quality deliverables.
  • Assist Associate Director and/or Sr. Director and Medical Affairs Department in maintaining publications contracts, budgets, training and operational tools.
  • Maintain expertise in emerging publication trends and industry Good Publication Practices (GPP) and assist the Director in and mentoring collaborators on these practices.
  • Maintain expertise in assigned therapeutic areas, including working knowledge of company and competitor studies and data sufficient to provide scientific and editorial support for publication projects.

Knowledge & Other Qualifications:



  • Graduate-level degree (MS, PhD or PharmD) in science, pharmacy, or other allied health field.
  • At least 4+ years of experience in health care, industry or health care communications agency role, with 2+ years dedicated experience in medical publication planning and execution; pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Training and experience in CNS disorders, psychopharmacology and/or neuropharmacology strongly preferred. Experience in ADHD, depression or other psychiatry disciplines is highly preferrable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current publication and authorship guidelines and their practical implementation (GPP, ICMJE, CONSORT, etc.)
  • Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) credential preferred.
  • Experience leading and working with teams of co-authors.
  • Experience developing, editing, and submitting manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed medical journals and abstracts to medical congresses.
  • Ability to understand and communicate data from a variety of scientific disciplines.
  • Strong and continual focus on scientific integrity and ethics and comfortable escalating and challenging digressions from company policy or values when necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical databases, clinical data interpretation, and application of HIPPA and GxP as it relates to ethical guidelines for data collection and publication.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills; able to prioritize and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Powerpoint skills sufficient to great graphs and slide decks for author calls.
  • Ability to work in Smartsheet or Publication Project Management software and Endnote or similar referencing software.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn Adobe InDesign.

Compensation:

At Supernus, we offer a competitive compensation package that reflects your experiences and contributions. The expected salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role is $140,000 to $165,000. This range is what the Company reasonably expects to offer for the position and is not reflective of the full compensation scale of the role. This range may be modified in the future. An individual's salary within the range is based on multiple factors, which may include and are not limited to education, relevant experience, knowledge, length of industry experience and organizational needs.

You also will be able to participate in a competitive benefits package, including but not limited to: health, dental, vision, paid time off, 401k company match, company paid life insurance and health and wellness benefits. The total compensation package for this position also includes other compensation elements such as stock equity awards, employee stock purchase programs and participation in our Company's discretionary annual bonus program.
