Under the leadership of Coordinator of Learning Services, the AV Technician supports and coordinates campus services instructional media needs. Assists staff and faculty (both on-campus and distance education), by the recommendation and installation of current and new instructional tools and technology. Maintains Faculty Resource Center, providing audio-visual services and production services for media needs. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment, creativity and ingenuity to analyze and to resolve problems. Supervision received is general in nature using established procedures and general objectives. Works closely with other professionals in a team approach. Communication is continuous between the division, industry partners, and vendors.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and provides support for Faculty Resource Center's computer stations and FRC copy center; maintains hardware and software supplies.
  • Prepares annual Instructional Technology budget for classroom, conference room and collaborative technology needs; works with vendors and internal staff to identify and implement specific site needs and system planning.
  • Provides technical support of collaborative technology communication such as two-way, multipoint video and future technologies; implements distance education connections with educational agencies.
  • Provides equipment, software and training support to faculty, staff and student workers to produce instructional materials.
  • Schedules, routes, maintains, purchases, and updates A/V equipment.
  • Uses graphic techniques including desktop publishing, photography, and videography to assist faculty and staff with instructional and department media needs.
  • Assists in specification, procurement, inspection, installation and start-up of new equipment.
  • Coordinates trade show booths, assists in recruitment and marketing events; serves on various media design committees.
  • Collaborates with outside consultants and internal staff to create and organize activities for specific site needs, and system planning.
  • Attends in-service training, workshops and other educational activities as required or assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education and experience: Associate's degree in Graphics Technology or in a related field with two (2) years of occupational experience in visual communications and/or media technologies.

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree or any equivalent experience in related field with over two (2) years of occupational experience in visual communications and/or media technologies

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of college supported computer operating systems, application software, and hardware.
  • Working knowledge of visual design and the techniques of multimedia presentation.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and processes involved in alternative delivery and video conferencing.
  • Skill in the operation and care of a variety of audiovisual and computer equipment and software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
  • Ability to establish, collaborate and maintain effective work relationships with peers, students, teachers, staff, representatives of outside agencies, educational institutions, and the general public.
  • Ability to convey an image of professionalism and dedication in work related activities.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse student and employee populations.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and software specific to position, including spreadsheets and the Internet.
  • Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision and to provide a leadership role to others.
  • Ability to establish workflows, manages multiple projects, and meets necessary deadlines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and ability pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear and speak.

  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 50% of time spent sitting, 25% of time standing, and 25% of time walking.


Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Information Technology Department and is available starting in May 2026.
Hours: This position is a part-time position working no more than 19 hours per week. Hours are second shift, Monday through Thursday. This position is based out of the Mequon MATC Campus.

Salary
Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2025/2026 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
