We are currently hiring two Medical Assistants with the following schedule options:

  • Full-Time: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Alternative Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM (4-day workweek!)

DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager and general supervision of providers and licensed nursing staff, the Medical Assistant supports patient care delivery in accordance with California state regulations and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.

This role includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities, such as:

  • Rooming patients, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures
  • Performing venipuncture and specimen collection
  • Managing patient flow and supporting efficient clinic operations
  • Scheduling appointments and navigating electronic health records
  • Maintaining exam rooms, stocking supplies, and ensuring infection control standards
  • Supporting providers with in-basket tasks and patient communication

This position requires strong initiative, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-based environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program

  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification at time of hire (BART required within 6 months)

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a fast-paced Primary Care or Family Medicine setting

  • Proficiency in venipuncture/blood draws

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two (2) years of medical assistant experience.

  • Experience assisting with procedures (e.g., splinting, injections, wound care)

  • Experience with Epic (Cadence module preferred)

  • Familiarity with UCSD workflows (FLOW process)

  • Venipuncture certification

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $52,847 - $65,772 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.31 - $31.50

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
