Description

The Pre-Op/PACU Manager is responsible for staffing, managing, and coordinating the activities required to provide a safe environment for patients undergoing invasive procedures or surgery. The Manager will oversee the Pre-Op, PACU, and procedure room staff regarding clinical and ancillary services within the center and evaluate all nursing services rendered to improve clinical outcomes. This individual will demonstrate leadership by working collaboratively to promote patient satisfaction. In addition to managerial responsibilities, this role will include direct patient care.

This is a full-time role Monday - Friday hours can very each day/week and must be flexible. The main hours needed are 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM out of our Two Twelve Surgery Center in Chaska.

Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.


Essential Functions:

  • Directs and participates in staff training, development, educational programs, infection control, and orientations.
  • Knowledgeable and consistent with the proper channels of communication within the department and surgery center.
  • Communicates with the Executive Director on unit activity and personnel; seeks assistance as needed and completes required documentation.
  • Assures cost-effective utilization of supplies & equipment and maintains adequate inventory.
  • Assists in establishing and enforcing continuous quality improvement data collection and activities.
  • Schedules employee and case assignments.
  • Completes employee performance evaluations in a timely and thoughtful manner.
  • Fosters an environment in which the patient care team can work cooperatively toward objectives.
  • Enforces policies regarding proper handling of narcotics used in the clinical settings by the staff.
  • Supports the Executive Director with planning and evaluating safe, economical, efficient patient care in all areas of the center.
  • Demonstrates understanding/compliance with the state and federal regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of the psychological, physiological & spiritual needs of patients & directs care accordingly and in an age-appropriate manner for patients.
  • Knowledgeable in the management of patient's pain and directing care. Maintains patient privacy, pain management, safety, confidentiality, block preparation, manage pre & post op. orders and all other documentation.
  • Directs and assists with care of patients in cardiac arrest or emergency situations as needed.
  • Manages and verifies the P&P's (Policies and Procedures) are consistent and accurately used.
  • Promotes safety and health in the work environment
  • Maintains all employee annual testing and health documentation
  • Demonstrates compliance with hazardous waste, radiation safety, and all other applicable clinical related standards (e.g. AORN, ASPAN, AAAHC, JCAHO, CMS CfC's, etc.)
  • Accountable for reporting occurrences through the center's established reporting process related to employee and/or patient/visitor events.
  • Fosters the developmental and educational process of self, colleagues, orientees and students (includes functioning as a preceptor).
  • Participates in acceptable continuing education, fostering career and skill development including meeting departmental continuing education requirements.
  • Assists in managing controllable costs by the proper, non-wasteful use of surgery center resources.
  • Occasionally participate in community functions relating to outreach events throughout the year.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned, to include the responsibilities of a Pre-Op/PACU RN.


Education and Experience Requirements:



  • Graduate of an NLN accredited school of registered nursing.
  • BSN preferred. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Current licensure as a RN in the State of MN or WI multi-state required.
  • Two years of PACU experience in the last 5 years.
  • Current member of the American Society of Post-anesthesia Nurses recommended.
  • Two years of leadership nursing experience, preferably in outpatient surgery setting
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification required.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 or more hours per day).
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry office supplies or files weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents.
  • Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly.
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer).
