Youth Leadership Coordinator - TAYLRD

Job Description:

Provides encouragement and support in a safe and non-judgmental way for sixteen to twenty-five-year-old individuals who have or are at risk of developing behavioral health and substance-use challenges. The TAYRD (Transitional Age Youth Launching Realized Dreams) drop-in center works to reduce barriers for young people by providing specialized services and support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides support to the youth and young adult members to ensure their attendance and active participation at all LIT meetings.
  • Ensures the identification, support and presents of TAY (Transitional Age Youth) representation and voice in their region and implementation of TAYLRD and TAY specific initiatives
  • Is responsible for the creation and development of a youth support network within their CMHC region
  • Provides training, coaching, and development of Youth Peer Support Specialists and other youth leaders in their CMHC system
  • Assists with the development of youth involvement activities at the regional level
  • Speaks publicly as part of developing the TAY Youth Network in their local CMHC region
  • Supports young adult staff, assists with hiring and onboarding of new staff, and plans outreach activities
  • May assist Site Manager with management of drop-in center

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Lived experience as the recipient of services to address a behavioral health and/or substance use need
  • Experience collaborating with interagency teams and leadership activities

REQUIREMENTS

  • Attended Peer Support Coaches training
  • Required to attend Family Leadership Academy, Youth Peer Support Specialist Training, Kentucky Family Thrive training and other pertinent trainings
  • May be required to attend out-of-state Grantee Meetings

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Valid Driver's License in Kentucky
  • Proof of automobile insurance required
  • Must have reliable transportation for the transport of clients

Within the bounds of their respective job descriptions, all staff are expected to exercise principle-centered leadership, focused on customer service responsiveness, with a continuous quality improvement orientation. Additionally, all staff are expected to develop a working knowledge of and follow all policies and procedures related to safety management and other Joint Commission standards.
