This is an interview position.

Through partnership with assigned business locations the Safety Specialist ensures the safety of company personnel and assets are in compliance with legislative requirements, in support of our peopleservice- profit philosophy. Responsible for the implementation, analysis and evaluation of the following areas: occupational health and safety, risk assessment, JHSC, audits, safe driving, dangerous goods, Canada Labour Code Part II and WHIMIS. Provides leadership and guidance to junior staff as well as education to managers and employees.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent - Degree - Health, Safety, Environment related preferred

Accreditations/Certifications/Licenses (Preferred) - Professional accreditation (CRSP)

Human Resources - 2 years

Professional experience involving responsibilities in the majority of these areas; Occupational Health and Safety, Workers Compensation, Dangerous Goods, Fire Prevention, Vehicle or Driving safety

Building codes and fire codes is desirable - (Preferred)

Strong understanding of government legislation and the interpretation and application of constantly changing and evolving legislation to company health and safety programs/ policies.

Standard Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook

Required to occasionally work overtime

Required to work irregular working hours based on operational needs

Travel within geographic territory.

If this incumbent resides in the province of Quebec, you must be bilingual( French and English).
