Responsibilities

Position Overview: At Newport Academy, we believe food is more than nourishment - it's foundational for mental and physical health. We're looking for a compassionate and dedicated Registered Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary teams supporting teens and young adults in residential mental health treatment. Our clients are navigating complex challenges including anxiety, depression, and disordered eating/eating disorders secondary to their mental health diagnosis. In this role, you'll help clients build a healthier relationship with food while supporting their overall wellness. You'll collaborate with therapists, medical professionals, and culinary teams to create meaningful, restorative nutrition experiences.

Newport Healthcare follows a gentle nutrition approach, rooted in evidenced-based eating disorder care and trauma-informed practices. We are also committed to your professional growth, with dietitians being eligible for sponsorship towards the Certified Eating Disorder Specialist credential through the International Association of Eating Disorders Foundation.

This position supports two six-bed residential treatment facilities and offers flexible scheduling. Given the uniqueness of this position, flexibility is offered to accommodate candidates' needs and career goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Treatment Teams:As a member of the treatment team, your expertise and insights will help clients utilize nutrition as a foundational support to their mental health treatment
  • Conduct Client Assessments: The RD performs thorough assessments for clients experiencing disordered eating or challenges related to food and body image and develop dietary recommendations and nutrition education that empowers lasting change.
  • Client care:The RD runs one adolescent nutrition group and one adult nutrition group per week and works with culinary and clinical teams to bring creative and joyful experiences to food exposures and culinary experiences.
  • Documentation:The RD maintains accurate records of all client sessions and assessments in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Family and Provider Communication:Communicate with families, therapists, and outside healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and provide guidance that supports clients beyond their time in treatment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Complete advanced coursework at educational institute accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation for Dietetics Education.
  • Satisfactory completion of CDR test.
  • Maintenance of RD Credential.

Compensation for this role ranges from $33.84 - $48.60 per hour depending on education and experience.
