Business Office Manager - Long Term Care & Insurance - Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing

Helen Porter Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, part of University of Vermont Health, is seeking an experienced Business Office Manager to oversee the financial and administrative operations that we rely on to keep our facility thriving. We are an assisted living, long term care, and rehabilitation facility located in the beautiful town on Middlebury, Vermont.

This position is fully on-site at Helen Porter, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

About the Role

As the Business Office Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting our mission to provide exceptional care and service to our residents and their family members.

You'll manage all business office functions-billing, coordination with insurers and regulatory bodies to ensure accuracy, compliance, and smooth day-to-day operations.

What You'll Do

• Oversee all business office and healthcare billing operations for the facility

• Serve as a liaison with insurers, Medicaid, Medicare, and regulatory agencies

• Support financial reporting, compliance, and revenue cycle management

• Provide excellent customer service to residents, families, and staff

• Ensure smooth communication and coordination across departments

What We're Looking For

• 3-5 years of experience in nursing home, long term care, or healthcare billing

• Insurance billing and knowledge of claims

• Medicare, Medicaid billing, manage care, commercial insurance billing, insurance, and coding.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and attention to detail

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)

• Ability to work independently with excellent organizational skills

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities

• Excellent customer service skills and client resolution

• Someone capable of answering financial questions

• Capability to work independently and problem-solve

• Exceptional at carrying out correct claim filing, patient-facing problem-solving, and a team player is a must.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience

• Familiarity with EPIC software

• Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Hospice, and commercial insurance billing

• Understanding of healthcare revenue cycle management

Education & Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Background in finance, accounting, healthcare administration, long term care, or regulatory compliance
