Job Description




As a Security Officer - Shopping Center Patrol in Wheaton, MD, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal in a bustling retail and mall location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, helping to deter security-related incidents while providing outstanding customer service. Your visibility and communication skills will support a welcoming environment for visitors and staff. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, and when appropriate, participating in emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm and problem-solving manner, following Allied Universal protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the retail or mall location and its perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter unauthorized access and report any unusual activity.
  • Observe and report any incidents, hazards, or maintenance needs within the location to the appropriate personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with other Allied Universal team members and onsite staff to address concerns and maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Complete required documentation and incident reports accurately and in a timely manner as directed by Allied Universal policies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • A valid guard card or license is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
