Looking for a Building Engineer for our client. This person will perform complex preventive and corrective maintenance on critical GMP utility systems, equipment, and facility infrastructure. Working with limited supervision, you will monitor, troubleshoot, and operate building and industrial systems to ensure they meet required performance, control, and compliance standards. This role requires broad trade knowledge-including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical maintenance-within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. The position supports preventive maintenance, emergency response, and inspections at a large on-site pharmaceutical facility.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Strictly comply with all applicable cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), FDA regulations, company SOPs, and site safety requirements.
  • Inspect, operate, and maintain critical and non-critical systems, including:
    • HVAC and environmental control systems
    • Wastewater systems
    • Compressed gas systems
    • Life safety systems
    • Plumbing and general facility infrastructure
  • Ensure all systems operate within design specifications and maintain required environmental conditions for GMP compliance.
  • Oversee, manage, and inspect work performed by outside contractors, ensuring adherence to site safety, GMP standards, and SOPs. Contractor scope may include landscaping, snow removal, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and janitorial services.
  • Perform assigned corrective repairs, preventive maintenance (PM) tasks, and emergency repairs.
  • Accurately complete maintenance documentation, including logbooks and CMMS entries, in strict compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Maintain building and cleanroom lighting systems, including ballast and element replacement, while minimizing disruption and supporting environmental recovery in classified spaces.
  • Perform minor welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith tasks as required, following approved procedures for GMP production and laboratory environments.
  • Respond promptly to critical utility alarms and emergency situations, escalating and coordinating support as needed per established emergency response SOPs.
  • Participate in investigations related to facility or equipment deviations and assist in implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
  • Perform other duties as assigned, with a constant focus on maintaining facility control, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
  • 5 years of verifiable HVAC, refrigeration, and chiller experience, preferably in an industrial, pharmaceutical, or other critical environment.
  • 2 years of experience working under cGMP regulations, including Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and general regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all responsibilities listed above.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and/or SCADA systems.
