Summary

The videographer is responsible for creating compelling, human-centered video content that brings the Mary Free Bed mission to life. This role leads video projects from concept through delivery - building trust with patients, families, clinicians and community members to capture a wide variety of stories with authenticity, compassion and clarity. This position requires someone who is equally comfortable behind the camera and in conversation - someone who can lead interviews, make people feel at ease and turn real moments into powerful visual stories. This team member works closely with staff across the entire organization and serves alongside our in-house creative team. The position is onsite at the Mary Free Bed Grand Rapids Campus.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Create video content including patient stories, internal and external communications, advertisements, video podcasts and social media content.
  • Independently shoot, edit, rework and deliver on-brand, high-quality video with polished visuals and clear audio.
  • Edit video for multiple platforms (web, social, internal channels), adjusting format, length and delivery as needed.
  • Plan and lead on-camera interviews with patients, caregivers, clinicians and leaders, creating a comfortable and respectful environment.
  • Plan shoots including lighting, audio, camera setup and location needs to ensure professional results.
  • Build rapport quickly and authentically with patients, staff and caregivers sharing personal experiences.
  • Serve as lead point of contact with video participants and maintain trust throughout the entire process.
  • Translate complex or clinical topics into clear, emotionally resonant visual stories.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to provide supportive information and context for content delivery and distribution.
  • Contribute creative ideas while also executing within established brand and messaging guidelines.
  • As needed, capture and edit still photography and serve as a backup for photographer.
  • Assist with in-house production needs for internal events.
  • Travel across the Mary Free Bed System will be required. This may be independent travel or as part of a crew. Trips may be day trips to locations across Michigan. These may be trips to our system locations in other hospitals across the country. The videographer must be confident in their ability to independently drive, travel, execute onsite logistics and gather content.
  • This role is required to be available for events, content gathering, and interviews as needed, which may fall outside of business hours.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Demonstrate excellent customer service and standards of behaviors as well as encourages, coaches, and monitors the same in team members. This individual should consistently promote teamwork and direct communication with co-workers and deal discretely and sensitively with confidential information.

Responsibilities in Quality Improvement

Contribute by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promote patient/family satisfaction where possible; participates in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service.

Essential Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in video production, cinematography, film or media studies.
  • At least three years of experience as a videographer within an organization or agency.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing independent videography/editing skills is required with application.
  • Superior technical knowledge of professional HD and 4K video cameras, still cameras, lenses, lighting, audio and peripheral equipment.
  • Adobe Creative Suite proficiency - Premiere, Media Encoder, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition.
  • Highly proficient high volume post-production skills, including the use of Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve.
  • Accepts creative direction and edit requests with grace from team members across the organization.
  • Strong understanding of social media content requirements and willingness to learn and adjust creative as platforms algorithms evolve.
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work both independently as a self-starter and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make others feel comfortable and at ease - both in person and through phone or via email.
  • Independently manage multiple assignments simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Regularly work within a project management system and tracks/forecasts project timelines.
  • Ability to work with ease in a bustling environment - this role may serve in an open floor plan, alongside a team of highly collaborative content creators.
  • Strong listener who approaches every project with joy, curiosity and compassion.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Experience shooting, editing still photography, Motion graphics, Drone photography/videography, A/V production experience is preferred.
  • Experience with the health care industry/general knowledge of rehabilitation services and principles of marketing and sales is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to explore the use of generative AI to enhance workflow without compromising the quality of work.
